Thank you for stopping by. I am a non-traditional student
at Gainesville college . This is my 3rd semester since returning to school. I am an Early Childhood Major and
I also am interested in Special Education. I have been married to Daniel for 12 years. I am a mother of two
Jacob, age 11, and Kelsey, age 10. I also have two step children, Aaron, age 20, and Jeremy, age 16. I hope to
finish my Associates Degree in the Spring and I hope to begin pursuing my Bachelor's Degree at Brenau next Fall.
MY BACKGROUND:
I began my college career in 1990 here at Gainesville College. At that time, I was pursuing a Liberal Arts Degree
in Health Professions. I wanted to be a Physical Therapist. Life took some dramatic changes for me and I moved to
Panama City in Florida. My college dreams were put on hold because I could not afford the out of state fees for tuition.
Over the next 10 years, I was married and became a mother of two. I was a stay at home mom until my children entered
school. I began substituting and working in the afterschool program at my children's school. This opened a door for
me to become a preschool teacher at a church. I did a half-day program, for 3-year olds, three days a week. I did this
for four years and absolutely loved it!!!! Each year I was exposed to one or more children with special learning
difficulties. My love for teaching is the driving force for me returning to school. I changed my major to Early
Childhood Education and I am really enjoying being back at school. College makes so much more sense to me now that my
goals for the future are mapped out.
College does take a lot of effort but it is worth every minute of it.
When things get tough I hold fast to this truth:
I can do all things through CHRIST, which strengthens me. Phillipians 4:13
