Guide   To   Owning   A   Puppy!

Hi! Owning a puppy and training that puppy can seem overwhelming. Currently, there are mast amounts of material out there and some can be contradictory of each other. This website is a narrow and essential key for owning a puppy. The site is my own personal journey through research and choosing my puppy.
In January 2006, I researched for a puppy that would be a perfect fit. Colin Tennant who wrote, "21 Days to Train Your Dog", stated: "if you want 2 dogs buy one and train it to adulthood, then bring in a second". I currently have two grown Chihuahuas at my parent's house (where I currently live) and one miniature Dachshund(5 years old) with my boyfriend, BJ. Since we are getting an apartment together another miniature Dachshund seemed like the right choice.

Then, the next step was to gather an overview of the miniature Dachshunds.
The books, "Dogs" had the right information.
Miniature Dachshunds full grown weigh eleven pounds or less and have a lifetime of fourteen to seventeen years. They are devoted pets, and good watch dogs. They do not need a lot of house space since they are small, which is good because I will be in an apartment. They don't require a large amount of food or an extreme amount of exercise.
In January I was surprised with a puppy and had more information to learn in order to become a great owner. Please click on the links below to learn the essentials for owning and training a puppy.
I can say, puppies are a decent amount of work and they train you subconsciously. Would there be any other reason besides taking a puppy outside to be in your pj's in the rain at 2:00 a.m.?
